In partnership with Harrison Hunt, JWGS Associates led the architectural design of Lochford Gardens, an award-winning residential development in the coastal town of Dunbar, East Lothian. Taking the project from concept design through to construction, the development creates a distinctive new neighbourhood that combines high-quality contemporary homes with thoughtfully designed public spaces and sustainable placemaking principles.

Set within a three-acre site, Lochford Gardens comprises a collection of three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached family homes, carefully designed to maximise natural light, views and flexible open-plan living. Each house type has been individually developed to meet the needs of modern family life, incorporating generous storage, energy-efficient design and strong connections to private gardens and landscaped communal spaces.

The masterplan was shaped around creating a genuine sense of place, with tree-lined streets, established planting, generous green spaces, and informal play areas that encourage community interaction while enhancing biodiversity. Careful consideration was given to orientation, landscape and the surrounding coastal setting, ensuring the development complements its environment while providing an exceptional place to live.

Lochford Gardens demonstrates JWGS Associates' expertise in residential architecture, masterplanning and sustainable community design, delivering homes that combine contemporary architecture with long-term environmental performance. Phase One has been completed successfully, with subsequent phases continuing to build on the vision for this thriving new neighbourhood.
